Edward C. England (2006 to 2009)

We are pleased to serve the Lord in the Massachusetts Boston Mission and pleased you are joining us in this most important work. We want to be a ‘Preach My Gospel’ Mission. Study, obedience, and hard work will insure a successful mission.
President Edward C. England and his wife, JoAnn E. England, came from Smoot, Wyoming, the Smoot Ward, in the Afton Wyoming Stake. President England was born and raised in the Ogden Area. He attended Weber College and the University of Utah graduating with a degree in Chemical engineering. He attended Harvard University for continuing education courses for his employment.
President England’s work experience includes: ARCO Oil Refinery in Sinclair, Wyoming, the TCR in Texas City, Texas, Northwest Pipeline in Salt Lake City, Utah and Williams Company in Washington (Vancouver) and Utah. He retired as Vice President of Operations and Marketing for Williams Company in 1998. The England’s enjoyed farming in Utah after retirement. Their new business venture took them to Wyoming in 2005.
President England’s church service has included a full-time mission in Southern Australia where Bruce R. McConkie was the Mission President. He has served in many callings in the church such as: Scoutmaster, Elder’s Quorum President, Counselor in the Bishopric, Bishop, Counselor in the Stake Presidency, and Stake President.
Sister England was born in Winnemucca, Nevada. Her family moved to Ogden, Utah when she was 8 years old. She has enjoyed being a homemaker and mother of 5 children. She has served in many capacities in the church auxiliaries. Some of her callings include: Young Women Counselor, Gospel Doctrine Instructor, 1st Counselor in Relief Society, and a Missionary Preparation Class teacher with President England.
The England’s have 5 children,
4 daughters and one son. All are married and they have 22 grandchildren with their first Great-Grandchild coming in December 2006.
The Lord has prepared you to come forth at this time to teach those who have been prepared by Him to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Paul Thompson (2003 to 2006)

President Paul H. Thompson and his wife, Carolyn L. Thompson are from Ogden, Utah, of the Forest Green Ward, the Weber Heights Stake. President Thompson was born and raised in the Ogden area. He attended Weber College and the University of Utah before going back to Boston to do his graduate work at Harvard University. He and Carolyn lived there for nine years before returning to Provo, Utah and Brigham Young Unversity. He has served as a faculty member at both Harvard and BYU, serving as the Dean of the Marriott School of Management during his last five years at Brigham Young. President Thompson recently retired as President of Weber State University in Ogden, where he had served for the past twelve years.
President Thompson has held a number of positions in the church, including full time missionary (British Mission), Elders’ Quorum President, Branch President, Counselor in a Stake Presidency, Stake President, Priests’ Quorum Advisor, and Young Single Adult Advisor, among others.
Sister Thompson was born in Wakefield, Nebraska; her family moved to Ogden when she was twelve and she joined the church at age sixteen. She graduated from both Weber College and Brigham Young University with a degree in Home Economics Education. She has taught in all the different auxiliaries, served as an advisor to the Young Women, as well as Young Women’s President several times, a counselor and president of a Ward Relief Society, advisor to Lambda Delta Sigma sorority at Weber State University and most recently, advisor to the Young Single Adults, along with President Thompson.
The Thompson’s are the parents of six children, five daughters and one son. Four of their children served missions in California, Argentina, the Czeck Republic, and Taiwan; all have been married in the temple and are the proud parents of the Thompson’s eighteen grandchildren.

Merlin R Jenson (2000 to 2003)

President Merlin R Jenson and his wife Carol M Jenson last resided in San Francisco, where they were serving as full-time, proselyte missionaries in the California San Francisco Mission. They served their entire mission in the inner city. Many years earlier President Jenson served a mission in the Northern California Mission. He retired from US WEST in January of 1999, after a career in finance and regulatory matters and strategic planning. He has held many positions of the church leadership during the past 30 years, including bishop and counselor of four stake presidents. He received his Master of Science in Mathematics in 1967.
Sister Jenson was born in Orange, CA and raised in Willard, UT. She attended the USU and BYU, where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She has served as YW President, ward and stake Relief Society President, choir director and organist, Stake Cultural Arts Specialist, and has taught in all auxiliaries. Her most challenging and rewarding experience has been being a wife and a mother.
The Jenson's previously lived in Littleton, CO Washington, D.C. Eagle, ID and Salt Lake City, UT. They have six children-four boys and two girls. Five of them have served mission in various parts of the world. The oldest four were married in the temple and now are parents of the Jenson's ten grandchildren. Source: MBM Hand Book - 2000

Dale B Murphy (1997 to 2000)

President Dale B Murphy was born and raised in Portland, OR. President Murphy joined the church in 1975. He and sister Murphy met at BYU(in-between baseball seasons of '78 and '79) and were married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 29, 1979.
President Murphy, now officially "retired", can honestly say that he never had a reral job until now! During a 15 year Major League Baseball career, he played for the Atlanta Braves, the Philadelplhia Phillies, and briefly for the Colorado Rockies. After his retirement, he filled his time with his children, charity work, and corporate speaking. He recently served as bishop of the Alpine Second Ward for one year, and then as a counselor in the Stake Presidency of the Alpin North Stake for 10 months. He has also served through the years as a counselor in the Stake Mission Presidency, early morning Seminary Teacher, and a member of the High Council, among other things. He loves all kinds of arts, loves to read, loves to bike ride, hiking, and the outdoors. But his greates is Golf.
Sister Murphy was born in Albuquerque, NM, raised in Northern California and American Fork, UT. She always says her greatest accomplishment in life is her children. She attended BYU for fours years where she first met President Murphy. She loveds to read, cook, cross-stich, and quilt. She served in various positions in the church including Relief Society teacher, Primary President, Ward organist, Laurel Advisor, and Stake Missionary.
The Murphy's 8 children are their greates blessing.

Ranier F Munns (1994 to 1997)

President Ranier F Munns was born in Logan, Utah. His family moved to Florida before he started first grade. Hew grew up in the mission field and had many missionary oppertunities as a youth. He has a brother and two sisters. At the age of nineteen he was called on a mission to Scotland. Elder David B. Haight of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles was his Mission President. After his mission he returned to BYU and obtained a degree in Political Science and Psychology. He recieved a Juris Doctorate at the University of Utah Law School.
While attending Law School, President Munns Served as Editor of The Summation, a Journal of Utah Law. He has been the Managing Partner fo Bogin,Munns, and Munns and is admitted to practice before all State and Federal Courts in Florida as well as the United States Supreme Court. He has been active in the Florida Bar in areas of Workers' Compensation, Trial Lawyer, Insurance and Negligence Law. He is a member of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers and he is a founder of the Florida Association of Adoption Lawyers. He is active in the American Bar Section on Insurance, Negligence, and Compensation Law.
He has served as a Bishop in several wards, in a Stake Presidency, and as a counselor to three Mission Presidents. He was interviewed to serve as a Mission President by Elder David B Haight. The call to serve was extended by President Thomas S Monson.
The Munns were married in the Salt Lake Temple while President Munns was attending Law School. They have lived in Florida for 25 years. They have thirteen children and brought eight with them to Massachusetts. Sister Munns was born in Biloxi, Mississippi. She has three brothers. Robin, her older brother, graduated from the Naval Academy and was killed in Viet Nam. She is a convert to the church. Her family joined the church in Arizona as a direct result of member missionary work! As a child, she lived in Europe and Japan. She attended San Jose Junior Collage as a High School Art and Drama Teacher. While attending collage she "took a break" and went to Europe and Africa. She has served as Stake Relief Society President, Primary President, and most other teaching positions. She is an accomplished cook and loved to feed the missionaries!

David L Gillette (1991 to 1994)

President Gillete was an attorney. He retired from that profession so that he could be a Mission President. He is an expert in the areas of tax, financial planning, and estate planning. He has also been involved in a variety of other businesses over the years. President Gillete is an adventurer. He likes to try new things. He doesn't want to ever get too old to have fun. President Gillette has been active in sports. He loves to play tennis and ski. He enjoys scuba diving, and climbing. He has been in the depths of the oceans and has climbed the highest peak... the Exum Ridge... of the Grand Tetons.
Sister Gillete took charge of raising her five (5) children. "I've done a pretty great job of it, I must say." Being a mother has been her favorite work so far. It is so challenging and diversified. Just when you think you have something figured out, along comes another kid with different challenges and you have to start over. Sister Gillette has basiclly been a teacher all her life. She has taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. Not to mention Young Women, Primary, Relief Society, sewing, cooking, and everything from leadership skills to relaxation techniques. She has been an avid volunteer in many SLC organizations. What she didn't volunteer for, her children volunteered her for.

Jae R Balif (1977 to 1979)

President Ballif served just under two years. He was asked to be vice president of BYU (he was the dean of physical and mathematical sciences before his mission). He since wrote a book, published by Bookcraft, entitled In Search of Truth and Love in addition to several articles on Book of Mormon studies which have been published in F.A.R.M.S.

Allen C Rozsa (1974 to 1977)

Allen C Rozsa was born in the Cache Vally in 1924. During WWII he was a bomber pilot in the European theatre. After the war he served a mission in South Africa. He went back into the air force in the early 50's and served until he was asked to be a Mission President in 1973. He retired with with the rank of Colonel. He was a Stake President in the Washington DC area and also served as a church leader while stationed in Vietnam. After he came home from Massachusetts he was a regional representitive in Southern California and also as the second counselor in the Los Angles temple. He passed away in 2001.
